Wednesday Ramblings
Everyone loves it when we can do a little simplifying, right? A little winter cleanup for your meal plan and grocery list, if you will. I’d like to introduce you to my new favorite tool: ZipList.
Many of my and your favorite sites use ZipList and I know that lots of you use it and love it so it made sense to add it to Bake Your Day as well. In case you are new to ZipList, here is how it works:
You can click on “Recipe Box” along the top navigation menu on my site and it will take you to your own personalized recipe box which will house any recipes that you save from my site or any other site on the web (like All Recipes, Epicurious, your other favorite blogs, etc.)
If you’d like to save a recipe from Bake Your Day, for example, the recipe I posted this morning, Campanelle with Pan-Roasted Garlic Brussels Sprouts, just click the “Save” button. This button will show up under the image on each and every recipe that I have on my site, right next to the print button. From there, a page will pop up that looks like this:
Click “Add to Recipe Box” or “Add to Shopping List”. ZipList not only compiles your recipes in an online recipe box, it will compile your meal plan and spit out a shopping list for you too. And the best part is that they also have a smartphone app so you can pull up your shopping list at the grocery store.
For all of my fellow type-A people, this was made for us! If you are a food blogger, home cook or just like to look at recipes, you will find a use for this tool.
Once you save to your recipe box, you will see this:
Your recipe box will show all of the recipes you have saved (from here and around the web) in addition to giving you grocery lists, grocery deals and various ways to filter the recipes you have saved. When you see this page, you are actually on the ZipList site, but can easily navigate back to Bake Your Day by using the top navigation again. The “Home” button will take you there.
I know you guys will love this! Be sure to let me know if you have any questions or if you know of any other tools that will help make using my site easier for you.
Tomorrow finishes up the SEO for Food Bloggers series so if you have any questions, send them my way! Cheers!
Ziplist is a blessing for both readers and bloggers.
I love it!
This is just too convenient!
I love the shopping list feature – so perfect for meal planning!
You’re just so smart 🙂 seriously I can’t wait for my switch to WordPress…
I have GOT to tell my readers about ZipList. This post is incredible, Cassie! So clearly written. Thank you as always!!

I just added ZipList too! I am in love with everything it has to offer and it truly makes things easy! I really like the phone app for when I go to the store.
This is awesome! I need to get to it and add it to my blog. Thanks for the heads up 🙂
Very informative post Cass! I didn’t even know that ZL had the recipe box feature and I’ve been using it for a few weeks! I may need to copy this post idea 🙂
I’ll have to keep this in mind for when I FINALLY make the switch to wordpress. Thanks for this!
