Wednesday Ramblings

Christmas is less than four full days away.  This means that I have lists to check off.  I’m quite a list person, I really love making lists; they keep me sane and on task.  I make lists of things to buy, lists of things to do, lists of things to bake and cook.  While lists are mostly helpful, they can cloud the reason we are doing all of those things in the first place, particularly for me, during this time of year.

Side note: I just realized that “list” is one of those words that, when you say or look at over and over again, it becomes a totally different word.  Anyway…

All morning I have been thinking about which stores I need to visit and things that I need to accomplish on each day leading up to Sunday.  Stopping for just a moment to browse Pinterest, (terrible, I know!) I found this:

Yes, of course.  Forget about grocery stores and gifts and meal planning.  This simple saying is where my focus should be today, and every day for that matter.

You all probably know that I’m a believer.  Not in Santa, but in Christ.  Without him, there would be no reason for all these lists, and trips to the store, and all the other stuff that comes along this time of year.

I believe in giving because, once upon a time, Someone gave it all for me.  Sacrificial, unconditional love was born on Christmas.  So for now, my lists are put away, I’m stress-free and I’m thoroughly enjoying listening to Christmas tunes on my Pandora station playing in the background of my life, just waiting, with excitement and anticipation, to celebrate, with those whom I love, the birth of true love.

I’ve been thinking about this too. I really enjoy picking out gifts for everyone, but other than that, I haven’t exactly been in the Christmas mood. It’s never really been my holiday. Easter is my favorite. Anyway, I’ve been thinking maybe I’m not a fan because the real meaning of Christmas gets trapped into Black Friday shopping and stress. Kinda sad to me. But on the other hand, I like to be busy and I like a loud house full of family, so it’s not all bad.

    Anyway, rambling (like always)

Hope y’all have a wonderful and merry Christmas! 🙂
