Wednesday Ramblings

Actually, “unknown” isn’t correct.  I simply Googled the quote and found that Lady Gaga said this last year.  So to give credit where it is due, thank you Lady Gaga for some inspirational words for this Wednesday.  Peace is an interesting thing, isn’t it?

Calm in your heart…I understand the idea but it’s hard to come by, no?  The absence of peace, for me anyway, is anxiety.  But there really is no room for anxiety, worry or stress.  Why focus on the wrong backdrop of life when we can fully live with the peace of Christ?  Wonderful, blissful, peaceful life.  I read Lindsay’s post this morning and have been replaying the idea of “backdrop” in my mind.  Each step of every day I have the ability to make choices on how to react, how to live, how to handle, how to cope.  This was just a great reminder for me today to surrender.  To let go of the little things, and focus on the bigger things.

Philippians 4:6-7  do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

How do you choose peace over anxiety?

Surprising that she could come up with something so insightful. Great quote though. I need to work on my anxiety and not getting so worked up. I love that verse. I think I need to print it out and have it at my desk.

I was thinking the same thing…just plaster it all over!

This was floating around facebook the other day, and I found it to be SO RIDICULOUSLY true in my own life: “if you are depressed, you are living in the past. If you are anxious, you are living in the future. If you are at peace, you are living in the present.” Of course, I would have to amend that and say that peace is living in the present in God’s will.

Reading through the Psalms, one psalm a day, has really helped me focus on the bigger picture. They ram it into my head and my heart that God should always be my main focus. And when He is, I find that He will answer my prayers in completely surprising ways. I have been able to find so much joy in that!

YES! I’m so happy to see this! I have a bunch of basil that needs to be used before it goes bad and I’ve been looking for tasty sandwich ideas. This is brilliant. 🙂

This is SO true. In dealing with rough times, it’s all about how you handle them and not about being mad that they happened to you. Great piece of wisdom to share today, Cassie!

I actually usually meditate. I know I don’t seem like the type to do it but the heart specialist recommended I try it to control my blood pressure. The idea being if I can learn to calm down at home while meditating I will eventually be able to when I am out just by closing my eyes briefly or taking a deep breath. I’ve been out of practice with it in recent months which would explain my agitation of late. Time to put it back into the routine. It really helps. Some days I do 15 minutes, some days 30, depending on life. Works wonders.

That sounds so lovely. I do love my quiet time in the morning. Deep breathing does wonders!

This has long been a favorite quote of mine. Some days are easier than others, but staying in prayer helps me the most.

This is something I’ve really struggled with lately. My life feels so upside down and every time it starts feeling right again something else comes along and knocks me back over. Right now I’m looking for peace in my heart on minute at a time!

Praying for you Jen! Let me know if there is anything at all that I can do to help you!
