Wednesday Ramblings

Yesterday there was a “5 random things” tagging floating around Instagram.  The sweet Mama Pea tagged me and I shared my 5 things (see 1-5 below).  But then I got to thinking this morning that: a) it’s Wednesday (duh!), which means some Cassie ramblings; b) coming up with those 5 random things was actually fun; and c) I should share 5 more, just because.  So here are my 5 from yesterday, plus a bonus 5.

And I hope that you will share something random about you today because I sincerely love and appreciate each and every one of you and I jump at the chance to learn more about those that I love.  Anything and everything goes and the more random, the better!!

1. I’ll choose sprinkles, Skittles or Twizzlers over chocolate any time I’m given the choice.

2. I have a weakness for French fries. I like to dip them in gravy or a chocolate frosty from Wendy’s. Sorry if you think that’s weird, but I’m really not sorry.

3. I have never dyed or highlighted my hair and don’t plan to until the day I see a gray.

4. I have a tattoo on my ankle that means strength and courage. Read: Joshua 1:9.

5. I started drinking coffee with my Grammy when I was way too young to drink it and I still drink it, first thing every morning, as black and as strong as can be.

6. I still adore Friends. I am in a bit of denial that the show is actually over and I’m praying for a reunion. Let’s petition.

7. I once had an obsession with BMW cars, like, a serious one. Now I’m not so crazy about them. I drive a Honda and I love it.

8. I have been living in maxi skirts like this one. It’s like wearing PJ’s, except better.

9. I have zero amount of procrastination in me. I like to get things done immediately and done fast, and usually I am taking care of 10 things at once, while also tweeting.  Except I don’t tweet while driving!

10. I have no musical bone in my body but I played the clarinet in middle school. I married into one of the most musical families that I have ever known so my secret ambition is to learn to sing. And it terrifies me to sing around other people.

Don’t forget to check out my caprese couscous salad in tomato cups and enter to win our #TomatoLove Salad week giveaway from BigKitchen Store!

A little does of #SheReadsTruth for you today, too.  The current devotional is on prayer.  Today’s scripture was 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18. The Message version reads: Be cheerful no matter what; pray all the time; thank God no matter what happens. This is the way God wants you who belong to Christ Jesus to live.  I was convicted by this today: how much different would my life be if I lived like this daily?  Definitely got my mind and heart going this morning!

Oh how fun! I still get giddy when I see the old episodes of Friend on tv. 🙂 I’ll petition!!! 🙂 I am also with you on nr 8 and 10. Thanks for sharing, Cassie! 🙂

Thanks Anna! I am going to work on that! 🙂

Number 2 ALL THE WAY! French fries dipped in a Wendy’s Frosty is the shizz! 🙂

I love that verse 🙂 I’m definitely with you on #9. I’m huge on multi-tasking…but fail most at Twitter updates. I still have a crazy old school flip phone and keep trying to justify the cost of the data plan for an iPhone, but just can’t find a good spot for it in the budget yet. Somedays it embarrasses me, and somedays it makes me feel hardcore. I dunno.

    • Cassie replied: — July 25th, 2012 @ 11:03 am

I understand budgeting! I’d love to have someone else clean my house but can’t quite fit it in yet! 🙂

    1) YES YES and YES! Skittles, twizzlers, butterscotch, tootsie roll pops, SPRINKLES, and jellybeans are my #1s over chocolate!

    • Cassie replied: — July 25th, 2012 @ 11:04 am

I know you love your sprinkles Sally! I didn’t know butterscotch was on your list though, I love it too!

    Sarah — July 25, 2012 @ 11:20 am

Even more we have in common!
*Friends–love it. Best episode ever: the one where they play the game show and the girls lose the apartment.
*I do NOT procrastinate either. In fact, if there is an unanswered email in my inbox, it nags at me. (including the one to you…I just don’t have an answer yet b/c of looking into childcare for the outing)
*I also played the clarinet! Reed sucking and cork greasing for life! 🙂

    • Cassie replied: — July 25th, 2012 @ 2:22 pm

Oh yes, emails in my inbox drive me crazy. If it were up to me, the inbox would be completely cleaned out at the end of each day! If the Friday morning thing doesn’t work out, I land at 2 on Thursday so we could get together that afternoon? Just let me know what works best for yoU!

    Anna — July 25, 2012 @ 11:37 am

Love these! And such a great verse – be cheerful always and pray always kinda go together now that I see them together like that!
Random: baby kicks give me the heebie jeebies (get it out!) and I don’t like beige 🙂 And I’m a terrible procrastinator – I need lessons from you!

    • Cassie replied: — July 25th, 2012 @ 2:19 pm

I love learning new things about friends!!

Hmm, you and I couldn’t be more different! I hate Skittles, and coffee, dye my hair regularly, teach piano lessons, and procrastinate as a way of life! I do love the french fries, though.

    • Cassie replied: — July 25th, 2012 @ 2:20 pm

So funny how people can be so different. But hey, everyone loves french fries!!

    Therese — July 25, 2012 @ 1:37 pm

We should hang out more. I love Friends as well (not ashamed to say I own all 10 seasons on DVD) but lately any Friends quotes or references I make at work seem to fall on deaf ears and then I just look silly. Also, I am the queen of procrastinating so when school starts again next month, I could use some of that anti-procrastiation fairy dust!

    • Cassie replied: — July 25th, 2012 @ 2:21 pm

Oh yes, I quote Friends as a way of life! Love it!!

Dip your fries in a chocolate frosty? Yes, I think that is weird, but also not so much – you like salty and sweet and so do I.

    • Cassie replied: — July 26th, 2012 @ 7:42 pm

Yes, definitely the best sweet and salty!

    Paula @ Frosted Fingers — July 25, 2012 @ 7:13 pm

I totally love Friends, too. I love just watching and laughing.I haven’t tried the new fries in the frosty, are they still good that way? I love the old ones in Frostys. I have enough gray to share. I need to dye, now.

    • Cassie replied: — July 26th, 2012 @ 7:44 pm

Oh goodness, no I haven’t tried the new fries in a frosty. I think I need to do that ASAP though!

    Gina @ Running to the Kitchen — July 25, 2012 @ 10:13 pm

I am the complete opposite of your #1. I could never eat a Skittle for the rest of my life and be happy. Chocolate ftw! 😉
    I played clarinet too!

    • Cassie replied: — July 26th, 2012 @ 7:45 pm

I love all the clarinet love going on!

    Jen — July 26, 2012 @ 12:15 am

I totally feel the same way about Seinfeld! I rarely buy Twizzlers because I could eat the entire 1-lb bag size in a sitting, making myself violently ill. And I’m totally addicted to World Market and Anthropolgie lately. I’m thinking about starting a self-help group for people who can’t walk into those stores without spending too much money on stuff they don’t need!

    • Cassie replied: — July 26th, 2012 @ 7:46 pm

Yes – World Market is like a drug, I just can’t help myself!

Thanks for sharing all this! I feel like I’m getting to know you more and more! And dude, fries in gravy? Is there anything better? 🙂

    • Cassie replied: — July 26th, 2012 @ 7:51 pm

Isn’t it fun to get to know people better? I truly loved doing it, and I think people enjoyed it too, I’ll have to remember to do things like this more often. And yes, gravy is amazing!

    Julia {the roasted root} — July 26, 2012 @ 3:46 pm

Fun Wednesday list! I wish I didn’t have any procrastination in me, but I definitely suffer from a moderate case of it 😉 And I’m with you on the skirts – LOVE wearing skirts, though I don’t own a Maxi one…shopping time!

    • Cassie replied: — July 26th, 2012 @ 8:10 pm

Yes it is, Zappos really is a great place for them, and they ship so quickly. I don’t get paid to say that either, I just really love them!

Whenever we are on a road trip my husband always comes back from the gas station with Twizzlers for me 😉

    • Cassie replied: — July 26th, 2012 @ 8:12 pm

Go hubs! I am taking a road trip tomorrow so I am preparing my list of snacks now. Twizzlers are there!

    Jackie @ Domestic Fits — July 26, 2012 @ 7:28 pm

I love your ramblings. And I think you should stay with your natural color even when you’re gray, because you will be able to rock the gray.
And I will never even pretend like I’m giving up coffee. I switched to decaf for the 9 months I was pregnant, but still drank it every morning. I gave up every other chemical, sweetener, alcohol, tanning, some lotions, most cheeses, blah, blah but the best I could do was decaff coffee.

    • Cassie replied: — July 26th, 2012 @ 8:14 pm

You are too sweet Jackie! And I am with you on the pregnancy thing – not that I am pregnant – but I imagine that I will be able to give up anything under the sun, except my coffee. Glad to know that you were able to tough it out with decaf! 🙂
