Wednesday Ramblings
Just a quick ramblings post today. Remember when everyone was worried about the issues surrounding Pinterest? Well, they figured it out. They listed to all of the ramblings and grunts and dissatisfaction and I’m so happy to read that they acted on it.

You can read their blog post here. Or you can read my highlights:
Pinterest original Terms stated that you granted permission to Pinterest to sell the content that you pinned. That was a major issue for obvious reasons. They say that selling our pinned content was never their intention and it has now been removed from the Terms.
They also are taking action to make it easier to report copyright and trademark infrigements. This is a very positive thing for professionals, artists and companies using the site.
Pinterest also states that they have intentions on launching ability for users to have private pinboards.
I love the action that the site took. I love that they listened to their users and I hope that those who deleted their boards will come back. It’s a great form of social media and I’m so excited to see where it goes! Here is a link to the new Terms and Privacy Policy. These Terms go into effect on April 6, 2012.
What do you think about the changes? Do you think anything else needs to be changed? Why and how do you plan to use private pinboards?
Check out some DIY action today too. Homemade veggie broth. You will never spend $3 per carton again. I promise!
I have no idea what to think! All this buzz about what to post and what no to post on Pinerest…..it’s got me all confused. I basically think if you dont want your stuff pinned, you should just add that no-pin button. Who knows!
I love that I will be able to tuck away “surprise” party ideas and no one will know. Or cookies to bake that shall remain a surprise!
I’m all for positive changes, hopefully it only continues to get better. Sadly, I rarely read terms and conditions and had no idea it originally stated that – yikes!
Thank you for summarizing – I didn’t have the chance to look, but now I know. Hmmm… I’m not sure if I can utilize the private pinboards. I think it’s great to use it for yourself (maybe for some pins that you don’t want others to see and we can invite certain people?). Like you want to get married soon but you don’t want your BF know about it, and you can already start shopping for wedding gown…. LOL. Something like that? Haha.
I am SOOOOO happy for the changes. People were copying and stealing content left and right and I’m glad they made it so you can’t just copy and paste a recipe to a pin board.
Great post. It really seems like Pinterest has taking great effort to listen to their users and adapt to what people want without being overly reactionary.
I’m happy about the changes!
Thanks for summarizing this whole hullabaloo with the Pinterest thing, I’m thrilled they took action. 🙂 And fyi – veggie broth, genius.
I’m so glad they made the changes because I was considering removing my account.
Love that you summarized the new terms and policies. I’m much too lazy to go through them myself. And I think it’s so amazing that they listened to their users complaints. I remember hearing some major ranting on twitter.
thanks for summarizing the new terms – i have had the email with the updates in my inbox for almost a week, but still hadn’t looked at it. whoops! i really do hope they add the option of private boards – i’d love to use that for gift ideas, future post ideas, etc.
I love companies that actually listen to feedback. It seems like it happens less lately…was so excited to see Pinterest make the change.
