Did you really think I would leave you hanging like that? Give you a biscuit recipe without giving you the sausage gravy recipe that I was so hungry for?
You probably know me better than that. And here it is – and it’s a lightened-up recipe, to boot. But truthfully, there is really nothing special about this gravy – it’s your simple, straight-forward flour, milk, salt and pepper sausage gravy.
Except (did you know that was coming?) that is has one little special ingredient - chicken sausage. We are big fans of chicken sausage and I happened to find some breakfast-style chicken sausage made by Bilinski Sausage that proved to be perfect for gravy! They are a small family-run business on the east coast and they pride themselves on providing quality, organic ingredients that are antibiotic-, gluten-, and casing-free. We loved the flavors that we got to try! I simply used it in place of ground pork sausage, of which, I’m not really a fan.

If you were around last week, you probably heard some buzz that Google is doing away with Google Reader. For the past several years I, and probably many of you, have used this service to receive updates via RSS from your favorite blogs. Well, after July 1, that will be no more. The good news is, there are great (actually, better) services out there that are providing seamless transitions from Reader!

So I thought today I would bring your attention to those things, as well as highlight lots of other ways you can keep up with the happenings here at Bake Your Day.
RSS Subscription (Life after Google Reader)
Subscribe to Bake Your Day via RSS. You will receive new posts via RSS in your feed reader. Speaking of…
If you have previously subscribed via Google Reader, I would suggest that you go ahead and try out some alternatives. Lindsay of Purr Design (my designer) wrote a great post about Life after Google Reader. I love Lindsay’s list of pros and cons for some alternatives…definitely check it out!
And Ali of Gimme Some Oven wrote How-To posts on switching from Reader to BlogLovin’ and from Reader to Feedly.
I have to be honest – I didn’t like anything about BlogLovin from the minute the page loaded. I can see the pro’s of using their service but couldn’t get a good feel for it. However, I am loving Feedly. Whichever you choose, you will experience a seamless transition and will only have to work through figuring out a new interface. You’ll be amazed at how behind Reader actually was!

When were were searching for houses recently, one amenity that was at the top of my “wishlist” was a pantry. A space, room, cabinet, etc. that was designated and designed to store food items, small appliances, plastic food storage, baking supplies, etc.
And luckily, the new house has a great pantry. But unluckily, I was unprepared for this kind of storage space! As you can see from the photos, I like to be able to see everything that is in my pantry so I love using clear jars. I have lots of different jars of all shapes and sizes that I have gathered from various sources – antique stores, from my mom (yes, she saves random jars for me!), and from Freund Container.

Is there such a thing as too much sharp white cheddar? Are you sick of recipes with sharp white cheddar? Because I’m pretty sure I should buy stock in Cabot right about now. Just why can I not get enough of this stuff? Can you take one more if it’s a recipe for biscuits with beer and lots of garlic and butter?
White cheddar is at the top of my list of favorites right now. Not just for snacking, but in sandwiches, quesadillas, bagel bombs and now – in biscuits.
