The #TomatoLove continues this week with tomato salsas and dips, and a 12-cup Cuisinart Food Processor! Find out how to enter at the bottom of this post! We all know that tomatoes are a key ingredient in most salsa, for which Ali and both have a love. Don’t miss the salsa she is sharing today, this girl is brilliant. Just wait and see!
Hummus has been on my brain lately. Humus is so much a summer thing for me. It’s so versatile, fairly healthy and super flavorful. So I went about brainstorming some dip ideas for this week and, obviously, hummus is where I turned.

I know I say this during every Milk Bar Monday post. But seriously, these are heaven. It’s my week to host this week so it probably comes as little surprise that I chose cookies. But not just any cookies: heavenly chocolate cookies.
Tosi says these were created as an ode to the beloved fudgy brownie. We love brownies in our house – they are really one of Paul’s favorites – and he adored these cookies, even more than I can explain. I adored them too, not because they are perfectly salty. Not because they are rich chocolatey perfection. But because they represent the best part of the brownie: the chewy-almost-crispy edges. I could care less about the center of the brownie pan…I only want the edges. And these cookies have forever changed my brownie-loving life.
Oh, I guess I should also mention that the chocolate crumb in this recipe tastes exactly like brownie mix from the box. Remember when I told you to go ahead and double the recipe for the birthday cake crumble? Well, just go ahead and do the same here too. You’ll munch on it as a snack while you are baking. And you deserve it, so just go ahead and make some extra.

We are going way back to basics today. Because I like basics. There is something about a classic recipe that is just likeable. And also because my husband brought home about 12 overripe bananas from work last week. And everyone needs a great basic banana bread.
And what else do you do with overripe bananas? You definitely make the softest, most flavorful and moist banana bread that you have ever had in your life. Please don’t think I am joking. My sister found this recipe several years ago. She started making it (and she doesn’t even like bananas) and then got the rest of us hooked. I’m actually not even sure why it has taken me so long to blog this – because the internet really needs another banana bread recipe. But I promise you this one won’t disappoint.

A couple of weeks ago I mentioned that I was going to Chicago for a kickoff event with Verizon Wireless and their Savvy Gourmet program, of which I’ll be a part for the remainder of the year. The trip was a complete blast. Not just for the technology, but because I got to hang out with some pretty cool people including Amanda, Katrina and Bree. These three are complete gems! Here is a roundup of photos from the weekend:
As part of the group, I received a Motorola Xyboard (which is a tablet) complete with a Verizon Wireless data package. I must say that it is quite nice situated on the counter top with a recipe pulled up on the screen. However, I think we have spent most of its hours of use in Sudoku and Word Search. Geek alert! We honestly can’t put it down, and we are looking forward to sharing our thoughts on the product!
In case you missed it earlier, I am guest posting for Laurie at Simply Scratch today. Don’t miss this White Chocolate Confetti Cookie Pie!
Don’t forget to enter our #TomatoLove Recipe Exchange and enter to win a 7-quart KitchenAid Stand Mixer!
A new #SheReadsTruth devotional starts tomorrow. Tune in tomorrow morning to www.shereadstruth.com for the info. I don’t know any details yet but I can promise it will encourage you, that God will lead you, and that you will feel the love of lots of women who are in the Word together every single day.
And one last thing: I know that a lot of my readers are on Facebook. And a lot of you are fans of Bake Your Day’s Facebook page. What you might not know is that Facebook has made some changes (not a shocker) to the way they promote pages so you might not be seeing the updates that your favorite pages are posting. To remedy that, go the the page of your favorite blogs, businesses, etc. and follow these two simple steps:
Disclosure: I am participating in the Verizon Wireless Midwest Savvy Gourmets program and have been provided with a wireless device and six months of service in exchange for my honest opinions about the product. Learn more by clicking here and follow along on Instagram and Twitter. #VZWSG
