Meyer Lemon Blueberry Muffins

Meyer Lemon Blueberry Muffins

Let’s discuss Netflix today.  Are you binge-watching anything lately?  My current obsession (and obsession might not be strong enough a word) is Private Practice.  I’ve been a Grey’s fan since it started and watched the spinoff when it was on TV but for some reason a few weeks ago just decided to re-watch the series.  It is SUCH a trainwreck.

But I keep watching.  Like, I cannot stop.  I’m watching Netflix at the gym and getting super weird stares from people when they glance over at the treadmill and see some blood while Addison Montgomery is operating on a premi.  I cry, and then laugh, and then get pissed.  I’m a mess, obviously.  Episode after episode and now I’m into the fourth (out of six) seasons.  The characters are so feisty and there is so much drama.  It makes me feel somewhat normal I guess.

Meyer Lemon Blueberry Muffins

I’m telling you all of this because anytime I see these Meyer Lemon Blueberry Muffins I will think of Private Practice.  We had an ice & snow storm last Saturday night into Sunday so I spent the day in the kitchen on Sunday since there was nothing better to do.  I didn’t even take one step outside.

I had some Meyer lemons and had planned some scones but then made a game-time decision to go with muffins and my adorable husband convincingly mentioned that dried blueberries would be a great addition, just before asking how quickly they could be ready.

So, after pulling up Netflix and season 3 of Private Practice, I whipped up these Meyer Lemon Blueberry Muffins, topped them with a little streusel and baked them and then ate them.  They, along with my Private Practice marathon, made for an outstanding Sunday. I’m not even going to tell you how many episodes I watched on Sunday. It’s embarrassing!

I used cream in the muffin batter which makes for a super soft batter.  The Meyer lemons are sweet but still have enough of a tang.  And dried blueberries – these have become a staple in our pantry.  Paul loves to add them to oatmeal but we also love to eat them by then handful, and now, we love to put them into muffins!

YES I am not the only person who watches Netflix on the treadmill, complete with the giggling and gasps of shock. I stream West Wing (how’s that for a nerd bust) and lately Downton Abbey too! It’s the only way I can get myself to run indoors, lol

WE are binge watching Parenthood and Dexter right now! We’re catching up on this past season of Parenthood, but watching every single season of Dexter. I love it.
These muffins sound wonderful! Lemons and blueberries are one of the best combos! You’re making me want to go make some muffins now!

Oh my goodness Netflix is so good but so horrible because I end up having to watch a whole season of the show I watch once I’m hooked in way too short of time.. These muffins look amazing! I better pin them for the next time the meyer lemons appear in the store!

I too used to be a big Grey’s Anatomy fan, but then it got to be to dramatic for me and I couldn’t take it any more. The show did however make me glad I didn’t have a life that crazy! I don’t usually do Netflix binges, but my husband he’s another story. He’ll stay up for hours after I go to bed watching all his save shows! These muffins look so moist and crumbly, I can almost taste the wonderful lemon and blueberry flavor just looking at the pictures! Beautiful!

Lemon and blueberry are so perfect together, and using Meyer lemons is even better. I had to give myself a Netflix intervention after binge watching House of Cards and Orange Is the New Black, but I am itching to find a new (or old) show to obsess about again!
