happy new year.

happy new year

Happy New Year!

I realized that it’s now halfway through the month of January so saying “happy new year” might seem somewhat late.  Buttttt I’m kind of on my own timeline these days.

For some reason the start of 2015 has felt different – in a good way – than the start of any other year.  2014 just wasn’t my favorite year, so it seemed to me that at 12:00 am on January 1, 2015, I got to hit a “reset” button.  A new year, a fresh start and boy, was it a welcome one.

I’m ready for newness.  I’m excited for what this year might bring.  I’m anxious for new experiences, new relationships, all which will come from a new beginning.

But with that said, I really wanted to start 2015 with good thoughts of last year.  Embracing the past is really the best way to look toward the future.  And when I started to look back over the last year, I realized that the negative stuff, the mistakes and the broken places totally overshadow the good stuff!  And 2014 did have some good times.  So I would be doing a disservice to myself to think back on 2014 as a bad year, and instead, I’m choosing to celebrate all that the year had to offer.  I’m looking ahead with hope and expectation, preparing for whatever comes my way, and looking forward to celebrating it all the way.

2015 intentions

I love a fresh start, I love goals and I’ve been thinking lots about some intentions about the coming year.  Here we go:

On blogging:
–
I want to attempt to get back to blogging consistently (what does that even mean?), but only if it means that I have something of high quality to share, that I truly care about sharing
– I want to share more lifestyle-type posts
– I want to look forward to the opportunities ahead for creating and sharing new things

On relationships:
– I want to strive for more meaningful connection with new and old friends
– I want to look for opportunities to open my door and trust in the power of sharing life around the table
– I want to date my husband
– I want to love well

On life:
– I want to continue a productive exercise routine because it makes life so much better (and not just because it burns calories, etc.)
– Open up my journal and my Bible daily
– Be nicer to myself!
– Read one book per month (more to come on this!)
– Travel more
– Put down my phone, except:
– Take at least one photo per day with it

Happy New Year Cassie! I hope the reset is going well. One beautiful thing about a new year is that feeling of resetting a bad year. I can’t wait to see what this year brings for you and the blog.
