My Sweet Pearl is SIX months old.  Well, actually she will be seven months old tomorrow, but I’m looking at the bright side in that at least this blog post is only one month late!

Pearl is so, so sweet.  She is (mostly) calm and quiet and is an observer.  She likes to just take in her surroundings, she likes to look around and watch.  Mostly she watches her big sister and Emma.  They both make her giggle often.

She started eating some food, mostly purees, between 4 and 5 months and she is an EATER.  She hasn’t turned her nose up to one thing we have tried.  She loves it all and can down 4 ounces of baby food in a few minutes flat.  She loves baby puffs and the teething wafers.  Speaking of teething, she has three – the third one popped through yesterday.

She sits supported very well and spent a little time last night on the floor sitting by herself.  She jabbers all the time and loves to blow rasbperries.  She babbles “da da” and “ba ba”.  She rolls over when she really wants to, but is mostly content to stay in one place (which is A-OK with me).  She really enjoys sitting in her Bumbo seat, high chair, or exer-saucer to watch what is happening around her.

We love our Pearl Girl.  She is such a joy to have in our lives and I can’t wait to watch her personality develop over the next few months!

So proud to be sitting up.  I think she was looking over me to see Daniel Tiger.

Our second R-pod trip took us to Echo Bluff State Park. We decided to keep our trips in-state for a while, at least until we have a little bit more trailer experience.

EBSP is a fairly new state park and I am not quite sure what I expected but it blew me away!  The campground was so nice and clean.  The site was perfectly level (this can be a big deal!).  There is a good amount of green space between sites. And there are wild, white horses that roam the campground – two adults and one baby.  We got our camp setup and they greeted us fairly soon after.

There is a creek that runs through the campground, called Sinking Creek, that flows into the Current River.  It’s spring-fed so it’s a little cool and the water is always flowing.  Being July it was plenty warm and the creek was perfect for cooling off.

I’m so excited to talk about my summer skincare routine.  I can’t believe I actually typed that!  Most of us are excited to share with friends when we find something we are excited and passionate about.

I started using some Beautycounter products after Pearl was born.  Post-partum hormones wreak havoc on my skin and  I had never really had success in fading the dark spots on my face from when I was pregnant with Lucy.  That coupled with a few spots I had removed between pregnancies, turning 32, and lack of sleep (hi dark eye circles), I was in need of some help!

Also having the desire to use safer products, I turned to Beautycounter.  I started with using the loved charcoal bar and the Countermatch night cream.  From there I added more and more products until, after tons of thought and discernment, I decided to join as a consultant.  Fast forward to now, I don’t exclusively use Beautycounter but I mostly use Beautycounter.  There are clean/safe/natural products on the market other than Beautycounter.  Some of my favorites include Schmidt’s (deodorant – another post coming soon), Dr. Bronner’s, Primally Pure, Little Seed Farm.

So specifically to talk about my Summer skincare routine – my skin is pretty textbook combination skin.  A little oily in my T-zone and across my chin, and somewhat dry elsewhere.  The oily spots are magnified in the summer, I believe, due to the crazy humidity of the Midwest.  So here is my current routine:

I realize a post like this sounds so extremely basic but I’m working on getting back into blogging.  For me right now that means I’m sharing what is going on in my life and right now, along with camping, I am enjoying allllll of the rosé!

Chateau St. Michelle Rose

Until about two years ago I had never ventured into rosé because I am not a huge fan of white wine.  I would typically choose a red any day.  On a whim though, last spring, I grabbed a bottle at the store and I was shocked at how much I enjoyed it.  I think I had an idea in my head that all rosé was sweet and fruity and that is so not the case.  All of the ones listed above are crisp and smooth and go with about any summer meal you can dream of.

Dark Horse Rose

Maya Angelou QuoteI’m catching up on some long overdue posts today and I wanted to write a little about my recent move to join Beautycounter as a consultant.

Over the last few years we have been on a journey to clean up potential toxins in our home. Most of us are aware of the way the food we eat impacts our bodies, (“you are what you eat”) but it was a big “ah-ha” moment when I realized that overall health can also be impacted by what I am putting on my body as well. Then I started to learn more about how personal care products are virtually unregulated and ingredients found in our personal care and beauty products can contain thousands of chemicals known to adversely affect health.

We bought a camper!  This sounds a bit dramatic, but this is a dream being realized. Paul and I have dreaming about something like this for as long as I can remember.  Read this post.  We are just dreamers!  One of the first times we spent a weekend away together (at the Lake of the Ozarks, coincidentally), we dreamed about future vacations and getaways we would take and that conversation morphed and changed over the years to the most recent iteration of some much-needed family getaways in a home on wheels.

I realize it’s just a camper, but it’s kind of hard to believe that we actually did it.  We purchased an R-Pod.  Over the last few months we spent so much time researching and shopping and talking and we finally landed on the R-Pod primarily because we would be able to tow it with our current vehicle, but also because HELLO HOW CUTE IS THIS THING.

Pearl Noreen Laemmli arrived on January 4th – her due date – without any complications.  Now a few months later, it feels like it was nearly a lifetime ago and yesterday all at the same time.

I had gone to the doctor the morning of the 4th for my normal weekly appointment and, just like with Lucy, my blood pressure had spiked.  My doctor highly encouraged me to be induced which I was pretty against the whole pregnancy.  But, at 40 weeks, I was so anxious to get this baby out so we went with it.
