Bloggers Unite for Africa {Giveaway!}

#thanksq03 I’m thankful for my blog, my readers and the community that is being built everyday.

Community is a beautiful thing.  I’ve mentioned time and time again how amazing the blogging community is.  Again, today, I’m here to tell you about another wonderful way that bloggers have come together to make a difference.  Jackie of La Casa de Sweets has organized a fundraiser throughGlobal Giving called Bloggers Unite for Africa.

[From Jackie’s blog] Just a few months ago, a terrible famine was declared in the Horn of Africa. What started out as a drought quickly became a life-ending famine, one that people are still dying from every single day. About 13 million people are slowly starving to death in Somalia, Kenya, Ethiopia, Djibouti, and Uganda, and many of those are children. It’s estimated that almost 1 million people will die this year from hunger. 1 million people. And, to make matters even more heartbreaking: In Somalia, 1 child is dying from starvation every 6 minutes.

A donation of $10 will provide a family of 5 with clean water. $50 can help save a baby from dying. $100 will feed a family of 6 for several weeks. Every single donation will help make a difference!

Now for the giveaway information: Every single donation will automatically enter you in our giveaway of fantastic prizes!! For every $10 you donate, you’ll receive 1 entry in our giveaway. Click here for the prizes and giveaway terms!

To donate, click on the Global Giving widget on my side bar or click here.  After donating, remember to leave a comment on Jackie’s post so that you’ll be entered into the drawing!  Thank you all so much for your support.  I love you all and I’m so blessed that you read this blog!

    I’m heading over to donate now. No giveaway is even needing to tug the strings at my heart on this one – it’s a heartbreaking realization. Thanks for this post, it’s easy to forget how such a small amount can do so much for someone else. xx

    What an amazing cause! Thank you so much for sharing. We take so much for granted on such things like running water. Makes me think next time I turn on my faucet how important a little water would be for someone in need. It makes me appreciate what we do have but more importantly what others need just to survive. Definitely going to donate, no giveaway necessary for me, just the simple fact of helping is gratifiying to me. Thanks again for sharing and helping spread the word!

    I donated at Beth’s site thinking how much our little contribution can do in some countries. I highly admire of you for taking an initiative, Cassie. We’re raising money at my kid’s school too. It’s great a lot of people are aware and we’re doing the best we can to help. We tend to take everything we have for granted and I hope young children will learn the importance of helping others from when they are young. Wonderful, wonderful post!!!!

    This is a wonderful cause, Cassie! My university was doing a fundraiser in our student union last week for the same cause and I made sure to donate. I can’t imagine not having clean water or food. We definitely take these things for granted!
