April

April was – dare I say it – uneventful?  Except it was full of good stuff all at the same time.  I had a conference out of town for work, a bridal shower, a wedding, and a weekend trip to KC which included my first IKEA experience.  And I was a pretty instant fan.

Here are a few snapshots from the month:

Coffee ice cream – baby and I cannot get enough of this stuff.

We have been having “nacho night” fairly often lately and these were Paul’s BBQ chicken nachos.  Last night we had pulled pork tacos for dinner and I definitely see some pulled pork nachos in our future.

I finished The Girl On The Train.  This one had been on my list for a while.  The story line of this book was a solid one, but it was slow to start for me. I had a tough time figuring out what was really going on with the main character, and then when I did figure it out, she stressed me out! After the story started to develop I really loved how the characters seemed to be so intertwined, and their personalities seemed to mirror each other. Their struggles were real and the emotions were portrayed very well. The part of this book that I liked the most was that it kept me guessing until about the last 20 pages and I loved that I didn’t know what was going on right away.

One more note: I often saw this book compared to Gone Girl, and I loved Gone Girl. And I can see some similar themes like crazy, train-wreck women and a murder mystery, but I wouldn’t compare the two. With that said, I did really enjoy this book.

Our trip to KC included, of course, some BBQ from my favorite, Joe’s KC (formerly Oklahoma Joe’s) and the burnt ends were indescribable…I’m still drooling, actually.

Spring in Central Mo.  Everything is so green and blooming beautiful!

I haven’t had any weird cravings so far, but I can’t seem to get enough cherry limeade slushes from Sonic…

And cinnamon rolls have been super hard to pass up.  This shot doesn’t give this cinnamon roll justice.  It took Paul and I three days to be able to eat the whole thing!

For sure the best part of April has been watching my belly grow. I keep finding myself surprised when I look at my body and barely recognize it.  More pregnancy updates soon!

Nacho night is the best thing ever. I have them on occasion, but think I need to add more of them into my schedule! Also, I 100% agree with your thoughts on Girl on the Train (def. don’t compare it to Gone Girl!). Happy May 🙂

Love the polka dot dress and reading pregnancy updates! I have a hard time staying away from cinnamon rolls normally, so it’d probably be out of control when pregnant! I’m looking forward to reading both Gone Girl and The Girl on the Train, I’ve heard so many good things!
Glad things have been mostly uneventful! Keep feeling good 🙂

Yay for a baby belly shot! 🙂 I agree with your Girl on the Train assessments. I actually listened to it on audio and the narrators were really good!
