39 Week Pregnancy Update – August & September
I know this is a favorite time of year for many, including me. I’m sitting down to write this post with windows cracked, candles burning and our first pot of chili on the stove. We have been anticipating this month for a lot of weeks now. It’s arrived so fast, yet it took forever. But we are finally here! 4 days away from our due date and sitting on pins and needles in anticipation of baby Laemmli to make his or her appearance.
It’s a little bittersweet sitting down to write my last pregnancy update. Although I have to admit that I am not exactly shedding a tear. I’m 39 weeks, 3 days today. We saw our doctor on Friday and I’m starting to make some progress so it’s just a major waiting game right now. We are taking in what could be the last few moments of being a family of two (which feels crazy!), enjoying a last few date nights, and making memories before our little one arrives.
I am so-so-so ready to meet this little person that it takes away all of the bittersweet-ness. I’m swollen, I pretty much have to roll out of bed these days, and I can’t wait to wear regular clothes. So while I know that I will eventually miss this bump, and I will miss feeling a little person squirming around in my belly, right now I am definitely ready for him or her to be in my arms on this side of my body!
The last couple of months have been pretty uneventful. We have finished up the nursery, at least, as finished as it’s going to get before baby L arrives:
One wall is painted a deep purple and the others are sandy beige and the rest of the room is accented with yellow, gray and wood tones. The wall above the crib is waiting for some decoration until we know if we have a little girl or boy. I have purchased curtain rods, but haven’t yet found the right curtains and still waiting to find the perfect rug also. The room is big so we need something sizeable and I just haven’t quite found the perfect thing.
We installed the car seat! It took me a couple of weeks to get used to seeing it back there. For some reason, out of all of the prep that we have done, putting the car seat in the car made it all seem so real!
My bag and the baby’s bag is mostly packed and ready for our hospital trip. Now we are just waiting for those contractions to start being time-able and then we are on our way!
